What happens when someone refuses to leave in an Enbloc Sale?
Posted Date: 22 Apr 2007That's exactly what happened in Lincolnsvale. One sole family refused to leave after 1 year when the enbloc sale process was concluded.
What happened? Where were they when the vote was polled? That's on everybody's mind when they read the news.
The first thing that came to my mind was the blown up case of this single family in China who refused to leave even after an eviction order was delievered. It's quite an incredible scene. The media lapped it up and make the developer looked pretty bad.
In fact, it look so bad it makes communism rule in China questionable. It looks more like capitalism that rules nowaday. Nevertheless, the family won the ordeal and I supposed it's all centred on money or greed. So, that is capitalism, I supposed? What irony.
However, when it happens in Singapore, the law overshadowed everything. The family, whether it's for money or the "principle", will not win in this case. Sim Lian, the developer has the law on their side and it's really up to them to decide the action they want to take.
Again, I say, Enbloc Sales is a very emotional issue for everybody involved. If you can't stomach it, don't get involved. That's it! - Danny 'Bingo'
